Good morning! It's a beautiful Saturday and lots of work for me today.I have the last of my canvases all sketched out and will try to finish as many as possible this weekend. My plan is to have Sunday be my last day of painting, but I don't know....I always hate to stop!

Framing is going nicely and they all look so pretty in their frames - I can't wait for you to see them.

Good morning! I have not been able to post as often as usual because I am in final countdown to Artfest and am painting furiously and doing other things as well. I had to buy a new printer because my old one fizzled, learn how to use it, print about a thousand magnets, cut them, and bag them up (with the help of my wonderful kids). I had a go buy a wireless router (what the HELL is that, anyway?), and it's still sitting in the box because I don't want to even look at the instructions. You see,my printer has this cool little tablet that detaches and works like a Nook and an Ipad, but it takes a wireless internet connection for it to work. Hmm.

To all of the wonderful people who snapped up the little hardboard paintings in my studio sale - your paintings are varnished, dry, and I got all of the boxes to mail them yesterday. I'm going to get them all ready for shipping and mail them out tomorrow morning by Priority Mail, which means you will have them in 2-3 business days.

It is cloudy here today and barely sprinkled on and off last night . I believe the high tomorrow is supposed to be only 52. Wow, THAT'S COLD! But then it warms back up and becomes sunny again. I never know whether I want it to be cold or warm for Artfest. Cold feels more like holiday time and people are thinking Christmas gifts, warm is a lot easier for us artists, getting everything set up and ready. We shall see.

Okay, have to run a couple of errands, then I'm back at it. See ya!

PINKS AGAINST CREAM"

Just a quick hello - things are fast and furious around here.
I've been working on large paintings intermingled with small pieces like these, which are so fun to paint.

Today I have to head out to buy a new printer and after that I will be working a bunch of 6x6 canvases, along with two 6x12s. Then I will move on to the next. larger size, which are 8x8s. I have all of my canvases organized with photos and there are still so many things I want to paint - I know I won't have time for all of them.

I hope everyone who wanted a postcard got one, if you didn't, send me your name and address, and I will drop one in the mailbox for you. Only one more week to paint!

Oh, and there are more paintings below if you scroll down....

working...

I had to post these - I've been working pretty hard today - I only have 14 days until I have to have everything ready for Artfest. Wow, I can't believe it's here already.

It's different this year, framing everything. More work and thought have to go into it, but I think the booth will look beautiful this year. At least I hope so. More tomorrow!

I feel like I haven't posted for a while. I have lots of paintings completed that I haven't even had time to photograph and still lots more to do before the Weems show opens on November 4.
I am mailing out postcards today and then it's right back to work. Fed-Ex delievered nine boxes of frames this morning and this is the third and final order. Whew - lots of unpacking to do.
The colors are changing here and it's beautiful everywhere. How I would love to be on a day trip to Jemez today! I am doing my best to get everything posted before the show, so watch for more paintings.

thrift store finds

I thought you might be getting tired of seeing my little paintings every single day, I am - just a little bit! So I took off on a treasure hunt today and this is some of what I came home with. What you see above is a beautiful silver colander, a round gold patterned tray, four brand new college-ruled notebooks (50 cents each), three muffin tins for cute little "baby" muffins or cupcakes, a book on how to be a good facilitator at meetings, and one of John Gray's books.

These are three books that looks interesting - The McDonaldization of Society,

Three Cups of Tea, and Pueblo Mothers and Children.

Here are my notebooks again and a really cool big book of Christmas stories, which I will share and read to my little niece Emily.

Three cool CDs that I found. I actually saw more good ones than just these, but I didn't want to go overboard. One is Christmas songs by old groups like The Platters and Martha and the Vandellas. The next is a latin one by Gloria Estafan and lots of guest artists, and the last is a really awesome crooner's CD. I hope they all work, I haven't played them yet.
That's part of the fun of the treasure hunt.
Sometimes you get something that doesn't work,
and - OH WELL!
I also got a swimsuit, two shirts, and a 100% cotton old-school red and white striped shirt to use as a painting smock.
I will probably stay up reading tonight - I have a full day of painting tomorrow and 1000 postcards to address and get ready for mailing. Good night!

Oh, I almost forgot - four cookbooks. One from Pampered Chef, one from Taste of Home, one from Prevention, and one from those church fundraising groups. How cool is that?

only one painting left...

This is the last little painting I have left - thanks to all who purchased and your paintings will go out in about a week, If anyone wants this last little one, send an email to dshadowtail@aol.com. $35 free shipping!

Artfest Painting

I've finished seven small Artfest paintings over the last three days - all 6x6s and 6x8s. I love painting that small with big brushes. This piece looks very abstract and I love it - I even brushed the ground strokes up into the sky. Risky for sure, I never know if I'm going to end up going too far and overdoing the whole thing. It's happened, for sure. I'm excited to see how it's going to look surrounded by my new frames. I'll post that tomorrow.

AND...I got an email this afternoon that both of my paintings had sold at the PAPNM exhibition at the Millicent Rogers Museum in Taos. I'm happy.
