WEEMS SHOW THIS WEEKEND

"HIGH ASPENS"

40"X30"

I am working on my last painting for the upcoming Weems group show that opens this Saturday. I will have ten 30x40 paintings - all in oil, which I've never done before. And the surprising thing - I really like all of them! Well, I'm not done with the very last one but hopefully I will like it too. I will try to post some of them late tonight. I am loading up about 7 of them and dropping them at Weems today. The rest will be delivered tomorrow. I will be stopping by to visit my wonderful photographer, Pat Berrett, so he can shoot all of the paintings before th show.

So, stay tuned. I will have photos of each painting, and show information.

Daily Painting #15

"MOUNTAIN HIGH"

6"X6"

SOLD

I am really happy with the way this little painting turned out. I keep wanting to look at it, which doesn't always happen. I painted very quickly and didn't think so much about the finished painting - it was all about laying down contrasting colors next to each other. A nice feeling to complete something that you like!

little commission

"O'KEEFE'S PEDERNAL"

6"X6"

SOLD

A little commission of Georgia's favorite mountain.

I finished another 30"x40" today, it's called "HONDO AUTUMN" and I will post it tomorrow along with a little daily painting I completed but haven't had time to photograph.

O'Keefe's Pederna;

new painting for Weems Show

This is my newest painting for the upcoming Weems show at the beginning of September. It looks very romantic and mysterious in person! Today I am working on a large Arroyo Hondo landscape, a daily painting, and toning another two large canvases. But first I'm going to buy fruits and vegetables and shoot some photos of Corrales.

Daily Painting #14

"THE ASPENS"

6"X6"

SOLD

This is a sweet little study for the 40x30" I'm getting ready to start today. This was from a photo taken on the Enchanted Circle, the magical drive from Taos through Los Alamos.

Beautiful area.

daily painting #13

"MEDITATION GARDEN"

6"X6"

$75

Wow, I have worked a lot today. I finished my large sunflower, I finished a large vertical floral (I'll post that one tomorrow), and I got two small daily paintings completed. This is the first one and I love it. The colors are rich and vibrant and the brush had its own rhythm.

a sneak peek....

These are my first two works in progress for the upcoming show at Weems Uptown that opens on Sunday, September 4th. I'm loving them. They will all be the same size - 30"x40" and will all be framed (assuming my frames arrive in time for the show!). I have three WILDS (thats what I call any chaotic masses of flowers), the sunflower you see above, an arroyo landscape, a vertical aspen, a vertical Pedernal, the river at Arroyo Hondo, a vertical hollyhocks at Arroyo Seco, and I'm debating over two sunsets - one of Elena Gallegos, one of Algodones. I just have to choose. I think they will all look pretty striking when they're hanging together. More tomorrow and I have two daily paintings in the works.

"BREAKTHROUGH"

"BREAKTHROUGH"

30"X40"

A wildly chaotic mass of flowers! This is the painting that I've created for the Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation's fundraiser "LAUGHTER IS THE BEST MEDICINE."

I will also have another daily painting tonight AND... coming up this week - I will spend 10 days creating 10 30x40 paintings for my upcoming group show with Esta Bain, Russ Ball, BC Nowlin, and CC Ophelia at Weems Uptown Gallery. That show will open on Sunday, September 4th. More information to follow on that. Enjoy your Sunday!

daily painting #12

"ROSES AT EL RANCHO"

8"X8"

SOLD

This is one of my favorite paintings. It's very soft and serene and I love the old window. There are so many windows like this in New Mexico, and it's very beautiful to see a multitude of flowers blooming against soft adobe walls.

Loose sketch and beginning block-in of color for 30x40 painting titled "BREAKTHROUGH" for the Presbyterian Healthcare's annual fundraiser, "Laughter is the Best Medicine."

daily painting #11

"AUTUMN STREAM, HONDO COUNTRY"

6"X6"

SOLD

Arroyo Hondo is one fo my favorite places to paint, especially in the fall. There are the mountains, the Rio Grande Gorge, the John Dunn bridge, rolling mesas, streams. You could spend a month there and still not get it all.
If you are interested in purchasing this painting, please click HERE for Paypal information.

daily painting #10

"O'KEEFE COUNTRY"

6"X6"

SOLD

I could drive around Abiuquiu and take photos of Pedernal and Ghost Ranch all day. That whole region is so magical and mystical to me. It never looks the same, and that's the beauty of it. I wish I lived right at this view and could paint it every day. Lucky Georgia.

new daily painting #9

"THE ARROYO"
10"X8"

oil on hardboard
SOLD

This is view of the stream coming out of the John Dunn Bridge area in Arroyo Hondo. I really like the soft colors in the hills and vegatation around the stream. It is so challenging to have to mix your paint colors out on location. You may also see small bits of dirt and the landscape in this painting, which makes it more exciting.
I submitted three paintings for the upcoming juried show at Millicent Rogers Museum in Taos. Only two could be accepted and the other two were chosen, which leaves this sweet little painting available.
If you are interested in purchasing this painting, please click HERE for Paypal information.

new daily painting #8

"EARTH AND SKY"
8"X10"
SOLD

This is a painting of the clouds, mountains and hills of Abiquiu, New Mexico. I think I took this photo on a beautiful fall day trip last year.
If you are interested in purchasing this painting, please click HERE for Paypal information.

I headed up to Elena Gallegos yesterday to record the beautiful sunset. I knew it would happen because there were lots of clouds at the horizon line. I haven't finished all of the photos yet, but the sunset was pretty awesome.

AUCTIONS

Okay, I said some time ago that I wasn't very fond of auctioning off my daily paintings and it's still true. I know personally, that if I see a painting I absolutely love and feel like I HAVE to have it, I don't want to wait seven days and try to beat out several other people at the last minute for my treasure. So on each daily painting that I offer, there will be a Paypal button underneath. If you see a painting that you love, click on the button, and follow the instructions. It's easy and you can pay with any credit card - you do not have to be a member of Paypal.
I am starting my dailies again today, so there should be a steady flow - mostly in sizes, 6x6, 6x8, and 8x10. The prices will vary accordingly.

WORKING
This is a busy next four months. Here is my basic schedule:

~Weems Group Show - opens September 4th, 2011. Painting 10 30x40 framed oil paintings, which I'm really excited about! Hopefully my frames arrive in time.
~30x40 painting for a fundraiser for Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation.
~Six commissioned paintings with no absolute deadlines. Whew!
~At least 4 daily paintings per week offered for purchase
~Start painting now for Weems Artfest, which opens November 4, 2011 (actually a little behind schedule on this one)
~ A multiple paintout day to Abiquiu and Ghost Ranch in September. Looking forward to Abiquiu in the fall
~A day trip to Taos in October
~in the thinking stages of a big two person collaborative show with artist Muchelle Chrisman from Taos
~Check into having some calenders and greeting cards made for Artfest

Okay, I better go have lunch and get started! Watch for the first daily painting of the week tonight.

short trip to Madrid yesterday

The most beautiful sky yesterday! I had to go to Johnson's Gallery to pick up paintings and I decided to drive almost to Santa Fe and take the turnoff that way, going through Galisteo and Cerrillos. It looked like it had rained - everything looked so clean and the clouds and sky were just luscious!

This is the steeple of the church in Cerrillos. It was pretty quiet, probably because it was a Monday, but I did see a few people hanging out, taking pictures.

The view coming down into Madrid from Cerrillos. What you see here is Main Street with all of the little shops, galleries, and markets.

A sunflower out in front of a little shop in Cerrillos. This will defnitely be a painting!

Maybe a large oil for the upcoming September 4 Weems show.

This was leaving Madrid and heading towards Golden and Cedar Crest. Aren't the colors just gorgeous? I wish I would've had more time to just cruise around - I would've loved to go to Galisteo.

This morning I went to pick up canvas - now I have nine of the ten 30x40 canvases I need and the other one should be in by Friday. Now if only my frames get here in time. They're being made and not promised by show date.

new book...

The new ARTIST LOOKBOOK from One Artist Road,

It's beautiful!
