Good morning!

We finally finished doing the painting inventory at 2:30am.
Whew, I'm tired.
There are a couple of changes we came across when numbering the paintings:

#144 is "BY THE RIM", not "ON THE RIM"

#136 is "RIVERBED"  8X10 and has changed places with
#135 which is "TAOS BLUE"  8X8

#58 is "CLEAR VASE" 8X8 and has changed places with
#57 which is "DOOR TO MY STUDIO"  8x10

If you have any of these paintings in your list, please
click HERE to check out the changes.

Also, somehow, we ended up with one extra painting.
CRAZY!

THANK YOU!

#7

This is a last sunset look at a stand of aspen trees and Taos mountain.

Good morning!

I have all of my final 150 Challenge paintings sketched now, even #1, so I have mixed them up and will be painting out of order for the next two days.
It was so hard to think of what to paint for my final painting, and all of a sudden, it just came to me. It's actually a composite of three photos and will be titled "CULMANATA."

 "SPRING IRIS"
10X8"
#13

How can I not love to paint iris?
The stems are almost more appealing to me than the actual flowers.

"EL SALTO PEAK"

My favorite New Mexico mountain.
This is the mountain that my family hikes every year to honor the memory of my nephew.

LOTS of new 150 Challenge paintings!

 Good morning!

I am delighted to tell you that I have #42 all the way down to #28
paintings posted on my 150 Challenge Show blog.

This painting is #36 and is titled "BAILLA."

The photo above shows my Speedball hardboard panel
that has been toned in with red and burnt sienna.
Oil paint just seems to love this surface.
I just loosely sketched my idea and started laying down the color.
Below is the finished piece.

I will be madly working for the next three days.
I'm aiming to finish by Wednesday night.
I'm sad that I'm almost done but I'm so excited for the show and I can't wait to see them all hanging in one location at Weems Old Town!
I've got my final photos chosen, all except #1.
I always try to make the last one have some kind of special meaning for me
and my mind is blank right now on what I want that to be.
Maybe a self- portrait?

new 150 Challenge paintings

Good morning -

I have five new 150 Challenge paintings for you to see!
I'm starting to get excited about the show.
It is always so fulfilling to see all 150 paintings framed and
hanging on the beautiful wall down at Weems Old Town.

I haven't run out of subjects yet - in fact, I hate having to narrow it down to those last few.
Trying to pick and choose the last few things to paint is so hard.
I want to paint a dancer painting, a buffalo, sheep, some birds, a few florals I haven't gotten to yet.
Some figures, another Black Mesa, a few landscapes, maybe a surprise thrown in.
Maybe an abstract.

And I have to decide which two larger pieces to auction off at the show.

Today is a work day but also an "addressing and mailing postcards" day too.

I want to be totally finished with all of my paintings by the 23rd of May, so I better
stop talking and start working.

Have a fantastic day, and to see all of the 150 Challenge paintings so far, click HERE.

new 150 Challenge paintings!

Happy Monday -

I have several new 150 Challenge paintings done and there will lots and lots of work this week.

I love this painting, it just speaks New Mexico to me - those colorful hills and dry mesa grasses.

And those cows. I want to see those cows again!

Legacy Art and new paintings

The Legacy Art event was really fun last night!
This is my husband and one of our good friends, Eric Lamb.

One of the celebrities at the event, Miss Joyce DeWitt from the sitcom Three's Company.

a very cool duo out of California called Splash
They created a painting upside down to music and in about five minutes, they turned it right side up and it was Lou Diamond Phillips from La Bamba!
Fantastic!
They also painted a wolf and a buffalo.

Lou Diamond Phillips at his best during the art auction.
With him is Mike Moroff, one of his co stars from La Bamba.
He  was in in Scarface and a bunch of other movies.
The craziest live auction person - he really yells and gets things going!

Mike Moroff and Tangie Ambrose, who is an actor on the television show In Plain Sight
She was so sweet and really helped the auction along.
I have a bunch of video too, but have to load it.

These are new 150 Challenge paintings I finished yesterday.
They are not titled yet, so I haven't posted them to the 150 Challenge blog.
More later and happy Mother's Day everyone!
