#1 summer greens

"SUMMER GREENS"
10x8"
oil on panel
$89

My first new daily painting!

I have so missed my daily paintings.

really wanted to capture the greens of summer and what better way to do that than with luscious red chilies?

I truly wasn't thinking about chilies as much as
about that bright, brilliant green of summer.

News Flash

DAILY PAINTINGS

I delivered my paintings to Sumner and Dene Gallery for the
upcoming Architecture today and I can't wait to see the show next week.

But, as any other artists knows -
as soon as paintings are dropped off, we
start thinking about the next THING.

My next show will be a solo show in November titled,

"PAINTING THE NORTH"
 Landscapes from Taos and Beyond"

So, that is written on my white board.
Those paintings will be plein air and studio on gallery wrap canvas.
I love Taos and all surrounding areas, so this will be like play for me!

AND - I am starting daily paintings again.
I'm aiming for one a day but there may be interruptions.
Like a brand new granddaughter in July.
And possible knee surgery in January.
These small aintings will be available on on my art blog.
All other paintings will be available at Sumner and Dene Gallery.

But right now I have a question......
Would you rather see these small 6x6 and 6x8
paintings up for auction for a few days or with a Paypal Buy Now
button that you can use to purchase immediately?
Feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I am anxious to get started and am waiting for a new truck to make into my
"Paintmobile" to take me all over New Mexico and beyond!

Life is good right now....

Oh, and I HAD to add these images after I posted,
the sunset tonight was crazy beautiful!!

SUMNER AND DENE GALLERY
Architecture Show
FRIDAY, JULY 3, 2015
ARTIST RECEPTION 5-8PM.

The paintings below will be included in the show.

I'm still painting for the next few days
and I specifically have a downtown urban scene in mind
that I would like to capture!

I hope you will come down to the show to visit with me
and see the paintings.
It's a group show and since I love all of the other artists'
work, I can't wait to see them myself.

My favorite of the bunch!
The blue of the mountain top sings to me.

"OLD TOWN HOLLIES" new palette knife painting

"OLD TOWN HOLLIES"
9x12"
oil on panel

Oh my gosh - I have a lot of photos to show you from the Corrales paint out
I just finished, but here is my newest painting, "OLD TOWN HOLLIES."

I love this scene. The little shop behind the door is no longer there.
It's something different and most of the hollyhocks are gone.
Sad.
But there are still some really pretty hollyhock scenes to see.
I am so glad I took these photos a couple of years ago.

I love the warmth of the adobe and the softness of the flowers.
I was not aiming to capture the light, but more to
push the paint around with the knife and make marks that gave me joy.

come see the paintings - two days only!

GARDEN TOUR

The garden Tour is over.
And man, it was a blast!
A few scenes:

Here I am painting in Garden #6.
No trees on this property, but lots of cool flowers, pathways, and sculptures.
I am using a new box and I really likes it.
It's called a Z Box and it worked just fine for me.
Paints "worms" on the two sides and the inside tray for mixing.

This was the scene I chose to paint.
Blanketflowers intermixed with purple.

 My initial block in.
I was not thrilled with the outcome of this painting, which is why I'm not showing it here.
The sun was in my eyes and partially on my canvas.
Not a good scenario.

 "FLOWER POTS"
8x10" oil on panel

 "CLEAR DAY"
8x8" oil on panel

 "THE POND"
10x8" oil on panel

 "AMONG THE BEES"
8x10" oil on panel
I found out that this beautiful pink/purple flower is called Sand Penstemon.
Gotta get me some....

Okay, this is not art -
But it really is art.
Look at the creativeness!

Private reception at the old church yesterday.
This is a view of some of the paintings of the old church.

 Closer view.

 Our wonderful guitarist.
He played a lovely variety of music -
my favorite being Norwegian Wood by the Beatles.

 Paintings of the Corrales Winery.

 Winery paintings.

 Posters for the Garden Tour.
My friend Carol Hopper is the artist.

These are two of Carol's beautiful garden paintings.

The thick adobe walls of the Corrales church.

Beautiful painting of one of the gardens.

 Garden #2 paintings

My painting of Garden #1 in the upper left hand corner.

 Different view of exhibition

Beautiful old beams of the Corrales church.

Sitting at the table - our fearless leader, Sue Winstead.
I have never met a nicer, more welcoming, professional, and so effective, leader.
Thanks Sue!
At left is artist Carol Hopper.

 Another view of exhibition.

My painting "THE POND" on the lower left.

Beautiful thick-walled window with stained glass.

THE GARDEN TOUIR PLEIN AIR PAINTING EXHIBITION
is open to the public today (Tuesday), from 10-2pm.
Tomorrow (Wednesday), is the last day and the exhibition will be open
from 10am - 5pm.
Come by and see these beautiful paintings
and gorgeous old church!

last garden walk through

YESTERDAY'S GARDEN

Yesterday I toured the last garden in Corrales.
I am actually painting at this one, so I took a little
extra time to look at spaces and shady spots to see where I might
fit in and stay out of the line of tour foot traffic.

This is a view of the Corrales graveyard.
I think it's beautiful and serene.

 Beautiful potted flowers.

A sweet little birdbath surrounded by flowers

Here is their exposed adobe wall that looks toward the Sandia mountains.

A person escaping from the ground.

A garden gnome escaping from the ground.

 Cool sculputal lizard gate.

Not sure what these are but they reminded me of wildflower fields.

 Guardian of the garden.

 Maybe Jupiter's Beard?

Behind the wall, there are lovely clumps of sage.

Another view of flowers in the rock garden.

I always love flowers against a grey background.
Not sure what these are.
They kind of look like snapdragons.

I really want to paint this scene but it is next to a sidewalk
and right in the line of traffic flow.
I'll have to see when I get there in the morning.

 Awesome "tree" gate

 Sun sculpture
The only negative about this garden is there are no trees for shade.
Not one.
I will have to definitely bring my umbrella!

Of course, I had to take a couple of photos of Corrales while I was there.
Meandering acequia

Just grass and trees but I want to make a painting of this.

Blue gate at the Corrales Winery.
I wanted to paint this last fall during a group paint out,
but never got the chance. I will try it soon.

 Vineyards at the Corrales Winery.

Okay, these are not at one of the gardens or even in Corrales.
These beautiful cactus are just around the corner in my neighborhood.
I drive by these all the time, and I bet most people never even notice them.

Since I usually always carry a "real" camera around with me
(I dislike using my iphone camera),
I am always on the lookout for unseen things that might be beautiful.

This is a almost full-blooming cholla cactus.

A regular old prickly pear cactus.
It is beautiful in the midday Albuquerque sun.

Well - a couple of things...
