New Work

I have two new 145 Challenge paintings and the
new "OCEANA" painting for the Weems water show.

I am almost to #100.
Then I will have only 100 more paintings to paint by September 30th.
Uh-oh, that's not that far away.

I am such a procrastinator.
I said I wasn't going to do any shows this year
but I can't help doing the Weems themed shows.
The shows are so diverse, fun and interesting
and I just love the people who work at the gallery.
They are so friendly and work really hard to promote and sell artwork.

You guys know me, I don't paint oceans.
I paint New Mexico.
This was a stretch for me.
And I don't know if I want to paint another one!

110 "SUMMER LAVENDER AT LOS POBLANOS"

"SUMMER LAVENDER AT LOS POBLANOS"
6x6"
#110

One of my favorite places, Los Poblanos Lavender Farm.
Actually, it's an Inn, a Conference Center, a Bed and Breakfast,
a Farm Store for veggies and all things lavender,
and a perfect site for couples to get married.
Also a great site for plein air painting.

SO,  I have been procrastinating.
My air conditioner has been working at about half speed and my studio felt HOT.
And I just can't take HOT anymore.

So now it's fixed, plus it's cooler outside, so here I am.

This is what I'm working on:

145 Challenge paintings
a 16x12" commission of aspen trees
a 6x6" Canyon Women with sunflowers commission
A large painting for Weems upcoming show this week titled "WATER."
a large donation piece for Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation
a vertical 48x54" piece for Weems (not sure what the subject is yet)
a 24x48" sunflower painting
a 15x40" painting of SOMETHING.

Also, I'm thinking about the upcoming Mexican Fiesta Dinner
at my house at the end of September.
I have 25 people signed up already!
At $49 per person, half of the proceeds will be donated to the animal group
NEW MEXICO DOGS DESERVE BETTER.
If you are interested in attending, please email me at dshadowtail@aol.com.

Weems $185 Show, a sunset painting, a visit to Old Town....

I would like to remind everyone to come this Saturday to
Weems Uptown annual $285 Show!

It starts at 10am, but people get there EARLY!

Weems is located at Louisiana and Montgomery NE.
Every piece of artwork in this show is priced at $285 or less.

I have about 20 pieces in the show,
two with retail prices of $1800.

I hope to be in attendance myself.
It's always such a fun and crazy event.
See you there!

 "ALAMEDA SUNSET II"
6x6"
$145

I painted this last fall, just came across it yesterday.
Loved it then and I still think it's pretty...
It is oil on gessobord.

I had to go to Old Town the other day and as always,
there are so many beautiful things to see.
I went early before all the tourists came - it was so nice and quiet.

I see a painting in this blue window with red petunias!

This is the opening to a pottery store.

A funky little shop on the corner.
I was attracted by all of the bright colors.
The one drawback - they had plastic flowers in their flower pots. Not cool!

The last of the hollyhock blooms

An artist enjoying a quiet morning painting - beautiful work!

I loved the color combination in this photo.

A hidden view of the San Felipe de Neri church.

 A quiet hidden courtyard

 Yarrow and I believe artichokes

I then moved on to Los Poblanos.
This is the lotus pond.
What you see in the foreground are some kind of small wild roses.
The middle ground is the lotus pond.
You can see the lotus flowers starting to bloom.
In the background are the Sandia mountains.

Okay, I have a thing for chickens and roosters - leave me alone!

These are hollyhocks taken at a very small house near my home.
An older man lives here and tends his yard and garden very nicely.
Small, but beautiful.

This is the corner by his driveway.

 The reds

A small acequia near my house.
I pass it daily when I'm out running my errands.
