When I started my art career, sunflowers became my signature. I painted so many that I got a little tired of them. Now, when I get ready for a show, I want to paint sunflowers. Maybe it's because I don't paint that many anymore. This painting is out of my head, but I have a lot of new photos of a sunflower field by the river that I'm really excited about painting. I have many other subjects but I always seem to come back to these beautiful, proud flowers.
