undecided

Hi all,

Here is my newest work.

I know it's been a while since I posted,
but Life just keeps getting in the way.

I just got back from a three day trip to Taos and I
came back so inspired.
It's very green there, not as pretty as fall in Taos,
but beautiful in its own way.

 "THE RIVER FLOWS"
9x12" oil

This painting is from the river flowing alongside the highway.
So high and really rushing!
The rafters were having a tough time.
But the colors were amazing.

"SUMMER AT THE GORGE"
6x12"  oil

I had to park up on the really high ridge after
Horseshoe Curve to get this shot.
You can see the beginnings of the gorge....

So, I'm working backwards here.
Before I went to Taos, I painted all of May and part of June for
The Albuquerque Garden Tour and The Corrales Garden Tour.

These are the paintings I completed in May and June:

Wow, I didn't know I had been so busy!

I'm looking forward to painting in some of my favorite places this
summer and fall:
Jemez, Galisteo, Abiquiu, Ghost Ranch, Chimayo, Truchas,
Los Poblanos, and Corrales.
I also want to do some urban painting, maybe around downtown Albuquerque.
Have to keep it fresh!

Now, I am undecided as to what project I want to do next.

I am thinking about if I swant to have my annual Art Party September 1st OR
instead maybe have a two-day weekend OPEN STUDIO SHOW in October.

What do you think?

Oh, I almost forgot!
I also experimented with gouache and ink:

beauty close to home

Feeling better today, but no painting yet.
Being sick is the time to rest and the ideas about life and work are flowing.
For now,
beautiful photos of spring and summer!
Enjoy.

Oh, and to my artist friends, you are welcome to paint from any of these photos
as long as you credit me, the photographer!
If you do, send it to me and I will post your painting on my blog.

Daisies? Sunflowers? Black-eyed Susans?

I hope you enjoyed this lovely scenic tour of some of my favorite
flower and garden photos from last year.
I can't wait to get out there and do my day trip, plein air,
photo-taking excursions soon!

last garden walk through

YESTERDAY'S GARDEN

Yesterday I toured the last garden in Corrales.
I am actually painting at this one, so I took a little
extra time to look at spaces and shady spots to see where I might
fit in and stay out of the line of tour foot traffic.

This is a view of the Corrales graveyard.
I think it's beautiful and serene.

 Beautiful potted flowers.

A sweet little birdbath surrounded by flowers

Here is their exposed adobe wall that looks toward the Sandia mountains.

A person escaping from the ground.

A garden gnome escaping from the ground.

 Cool sculputal lizard gate.

Not sure what these are but they reminded me of wildflower fields.

 Guardian of the garden.

 Maybe Jupiter's Beard?

Behind the wall, there are lovely clumps of sage.

Another view of flowers in the rock garden.

I always love flowers against a grey background.
Not sure what these are.
They kind of look like snapdragons.

I really want to paint this scene but it is next to a sidewalk
and right in the line of traffic flow.
I'll have to see when I get there in the morning.

 Awesome "tree" gate

 Sun sculpture
The only negative about this garden is there are no trees for shade.
Not one.
I will have to definitely bring my umbrella!

Of course, I had to take a couple of photos of Corrales while I was there.
Meandering acequia

Just grass and trees but I want to make a painting of this.

Blue gate at the Corrales Winery.
I wanted to paint this last fall during a group paint out,
but never got the chance. I will try it soon.

 Vineyards at the Corrales Winery.

Okay, these are not at one of the gardens or even in Corrales.
These beautiful cactus are just around the corner in my neighborhood.
I drive by these all the time, and I bet most people never even notice them.

Since I usually always carry a "real" camera around with me
(I dislike using my iphone camera),
I am always on the lookout for unseen things that might be beautiful.

This is a almost full-blooming cholla cactus.

A regular old prickly pear cactus.
It is beautiful in the midday Albuquerque sun.

Well - a couple of things...
